Jamies in Marshfield
Tigerlily- May 2005, Jamie’s Marshfield

I’ve heard so many wonderful and intriguing reviews about Tigerlily that I decided to head to Jamie’s in Marshfield and check out the band first-hand. First of all, when we pulled into the parking lot it was filled to capacity so we had to park next door. I haven’t seen that many people at Jamie’s in a long time!

As we entered the room, the first thing that I noticed was the singer’s (Ticia Low) provocative outfit and sexy appearance. She was wearing a leather body suit and looked reminiscent of a younger Joan Jett or another rock Vixen from the 80s. Ticia has as much charisma on stage as any professional National Act. She was dancing around and moving with the music in such a way that compelled you to join her on the dance floor. Her high energy performance (with the help of a wireless microphone) had her rolling around on the stage, joining the crowd on the dance floor, and practically climbing the walls! The audience loved her! You would have thought she was a famous rock starlet! Ticia surprised me when she not only proved her self as an accomplished vocalist, but a trumpet and guitar player as well!

Although Ticia was usually the focus of the band, the rest of the band provided strong background and lead vocals which effectively added to the credibility of the band. The players looked their part and danced along behind her. They were tight, energetic, and definitely seasoned players.

The most impressive quality of Tigerlily is the diverse setlist. You can't help but wonder what the heck this band is going to play next! The band is just as quick to throw in a Top 40 hit by artists including Ashlee Simpson and Christina Aquilera, as they are to throw in an obscure hit from the 80s such as Love Bites by Def Leppard of Barracuda by Heart! Throughout the night, the band remained true to the songs while making each their own.

Overall, the energy and musicianship of the band made it perfectly clear why Tigerlily is one of the hottest cover bands in the area! The band was so devoted to the music and their performance, that it was easy to forget that they were a cover band. You felt like you were at a rock concert and not watching a GB band. I anticipate seeing the band again and wondering what outfit she will have on next time! Four Stars! ****
